Broadcom best dividend hero with hike coming up
Dividend Heroes up 38.3% in 2024 with last dividend increase expected this week
In a down week the Dividend Heroes saw just 8 gainers out of 25 stocks. The best performer last week was semiconductor giant Broadcom (AVGO), up 10.8%. We expect a dividend hike by Broadcom this week.
Broadcom already did a mini 1% hike on September 5, but the big annual raise is always announced in December. We think another hike to $0.60 quarterly, or possibly even more, will be communicated within a few days. With a current yield of 1.2% a fresh double digit increase is welcome for Broadcom.
Another Dividend Hero announcing a dividend hike was Aflac (AFL). The insurer, our #3 dividend hero in 2024, did a 16% increase, marking 42 straight years of increases. With this all dividend hikes but Broadcom (second one expected) have been announced. Only Oracle (ORCL) and Discover Financial (DFS, bid for the company) will not do a dividend hike in 2024.
With a Total Return of 38.3% as of December 6, 2024, we are very satisfied with the performance YTD. One of the best performers in the last couple of months has been Williams-Sonoma (WSM), a stock we highlighted recently on dividendheroes.com. With a 90.2% Total Return in 2024 Williams-Sonoma is the second best performing Hero after Comfort Systems USA (FIX).
Right now we have only one loser of all 25 top Dividend Heroes for 2025: Westlake Corp (WLK). The chemicals company is down 9.9% and currently yields 1.7%.
The average yield for all Dividend Heroes stands at 1.6% and the average dividend hike in 2024 is a whopping 17.2%. Interestingly enough the average forward p/e for all 25 Heroes combined is only 20,3 for FY 2025 with an average dividend payout ratio of 45%, a 20.1% EBIT-margin and a ROIC of 18.9%.
